What If I Don’t Have A Photo Studio?

What If I Don’t Have A Photo Studio?

What if I don’t have a photo studios? How will I book boudoir clients? That’s a fair question to ask ,my friend. The answer is, you rent out a photo studio space, or an Airbnb, or you can make a space in your home. I still don’t have my own studio. I prefer to shoot in different spaces, I am more creative that way. Eventually I will invest in my own studio space, either from home or in a commercial building. I never let not having my own studio stand in my way. I can shoot anyplace, I just need a window and some sheers over it. So my friend, you can do the same.

what if I dont have a photo studio?

How To Find The Space

Google is your friend! Do a search for photo studio rentals in your city or town. I found a ton of places, I only chose about 2 from that list. I didn’t want the studio to be so far away from home. 3o mins was the max I was willing to travel. I also looked on Airbnb and I found a real gem. I love this studio so much. It’s actually a loft apartment that was turned Airbnb on a part time bases. The rest of the time it’s rented out to photographers. I switch between spaces, depending on which location works best for my clients. I love being able to offer this convenience to them.

Going In For The Ask

So, how do you book an Airbnb? Yes, I get asked this question all the time. The answer is, you are honest with the owner about what you are doing. I have even worked out deals with the owner for a better price. I tell them, that I will be in for 5 hours only and I will not be using any towels and I clean up after myself. This right here will save you money, because they won’t have to charge you a cleaning fee. I will usually ask to pay for what I usually pay at any of my local photo rental studios I use, it works out so well

Your Home

Shooting from home is my first option, if I had the space. I live in the city and my home is small. I also have small kids and a husband that works from home a lot. This isn’t an option for me at the moment. We are considering looking for a home with a space for a studio, one that is away from my main living area. If you can swing this, it’s the best idea. All you would need is a window, if you shoot natural light, or a LED light and some sheers and a chair or blow up mattress to start.

I hope this was helpful for you! I really want to encourage you to explore your options and make it work!

You got this!!
